YOU CAN HELP A CANADIAN ATHLETE GET TO TORINO

Source: Press Release
Date: November 22, 2005

Tuesday, November 22, 2005 (Toronto, ON) If you've ever dreamt of being a part of the Games, your opportunity has arrived. The See You In Torino Fund provides direct financial support to Canadian Athletes, helping to ensure they are in top condition with nutrition, coaching and the proper equipment. With just over 3 months until Canadian athletes compete in Torino, now is your chance to "adopt one of your own" for $6,000.

Our elite athletes currently receive $1,500 a month from the government, and that means living on just $18,000 a year while training for the most significant sporting event of their lives. The See You In Canadian Athletes Fund has helped offset costs for over 500 athletes, helping them compete in Sydney in 2000, Salt Lake City in 2002, Athens in 2004 and now Torino in 2006.

Your contribution is vital to the success of Canadians competing in Torino. In return for your generous support, you will receive an invitation to the WHITE ICE GALA on December 1, 2005 at the Granite Club. There will be Italian-inspired hors d'oevres and aperitifs followed by incredible cuisine and fine wine, silent and live auctions and much more. The evening will include an intimate skating performance by Kurt Browning (four-time World Champion), Brian Orser (two-time Olympic silver medalist), Donald Jackson (first male skater in the world to successfully complete a triple Lutz jump and first Male Canadian to win a World Championship in 1962) and more. Dinner will be served in the Grand Ballroom with an Olympian at your table.

"Without the funding I received from the See You In Athens Fund last year, I would not be wearing the gold medal around my neck," vouches Adam Van Koeverden, 2004 Olympic Gold and Bronze Medalist, Canoe/Kayak Our athletes are incredible role models who act as ambassadors to our country. With consistent financial support, these athletes can continue inspiring future generations of proud Canadians.
