Details: Battle of the Blades will premiere on Sep. 18 with "Game On", the intro episode, and air at 8PM on Sunday and Monday nights. The live performances start Sep. 25. According to the Battle of the Blades blog, the first live performances will be split between two one-hour shows on Sep. 25 and Sep. 26. There will be no elimination in the first week, but the performances will count towards the final elimination in week 2. Subsequent weeks feature performance shows on Sundays, followed by "skate-off" results shows on Mondays. The finale weekend is Nov. 13-14.

For the first time, a female hockey player (Tessa Bonhomme) will pair up with a male figure skater (David Pelletier) and compete against the rest of the pairs.

The judges have a one-time save to use to save one couple from elimination.

The kick-off episode 9/18 will feature a memorial to intended season 3 cast member and former NHLer Wade Belak, who passed away in Toronto Aug. 31, during training for Battle of the Blades.

Russ Courtnall, who was the first hockey player eliminated last season in Battle of the Blades, has been brought in to skate with Kim Navarro.
