Aladdin on Ice (1995)

International Figure Skating

"Aladdin on Ice" is a fitting special for Kurt. He has all of the character, humor and appeal that embodies the character. Not to mention a fabulous physique, which looks quite nice in the early part of the program when he is wearing only a vest on the upper half of his body.

The producers of this special used creativity when filming, by interspersing real scenes of Cairo with the action of the story. Kristi Yamaguchi as Princess Jasmine was a casting coup, for who else could have brought off the character the way she did. The skating duets between the two are impressive for their style and grace. They skate well together and make an interesting pair to watch when playing off of one another.

However, my favorite part of the entire show is when Kurt skates to "One Jump Ahead." In this number, Kurt is able to show off his physical jumping ability, as well as his comedic timing and characterization. In regards to the famous "A Whole New World" scene, the presentation was flawless and the skaters were believable in their joy.

All in all, I found this Disney skating adaptation to be one of the better that I have seen, and would recommend its viewing to anyone who can get their hands on a copy. I found it to be entertaining and fun, I've watched it numerous times and have never tired of it in the least (however, I've watched most all of Kurt's programs and specials numerous times and I never tire of those either!).
