1997 G.O.A.L. Dinner

This photo was taken at the yearly G.O.A.L Dinner that is held in Cambridge, Ontario, at the Hespeler Memorial Hall and Arena. G.O.A.L stands for "Giving Opportunities For Athletes To Learn". This consisted of a wonderful buffet dinner. Afterwards, the skaters from the Hespeler Club put on a very entertaining show and of course Kurt Browning was the very, very special guest.
Before the show and after dinner they held an auction for a chance to sit in the middle of the ice while Kurt skated to "Radar Love"!!!!!!! Could you just imagine??????? The bidding started at $50.00, and it kept rising. The family that I went down with was coaching me along telling me to go for it, make a bid!!! Once I started bidding, I just couldn't stop! Everytime I stood up to bid, Kurt looked at me!!! The excitement was just too overwhelming. I actually bid up to $450! I couldn't believe I actually did that (It's not like I'm a rich person or anything!) *LOL* As it turned out, Barbara-Ann Scott's husband, Tommy King, ended up bidding $1000, so that counted me out :o( I'm sure that whatever I bid it would have ended up that Barbara got *my* seat. Even though I didn't get the seat I really wanted, I still had a great time where I was sitting; and while Kurt skated around Barbara, I pictured myself sitting there! Hey we can all dream can't we?
