Scrapbook Project - K is for Kurt
In 2006, Kurt Browning's children's book "A is for Axel: An Ice
Skating Alphabet" was released. Inspired by this charming book, we
decided to do our own alphabet book, this one dedicated to different
aspects of Kurt's skating and personality that make us fans. A top
ten favorite programs poll was conducted online and the ten programs
that got the most votes got a letter of their own (so in some cases,
there were two words for a given letter). The remaining programs that
received votes in the poll are in a photo collage at the end of the
book. A small group of fans made suggestions on what each remaining
letter should stand for, voted on the suggestions, wrote poems, and
compiled photos and quotes for the pages. Then, a group of five fans
from all over the US (including Alaska) and Canada put in a ton of
hard work to put the pages together before mailing them to me to
assemble. The result was "K is for Kurt: A Kurt Browning Fan's
Alphabet," a title that totally cracked Kurt up.
As with the "As Time Goes By" message book, these photos were taken
by propping the pages up on a chair in the hotel lobby, so the photos
aren't perfectly square or in focus, but hopefully will give a sense
of what the final book looked like. Thanks again to Wendy and Jean
for these photos.
