A young city figure skater takes to the ice on Sunday, April 29 with one of the sport's brightest stars.

Josh Tymoruski, 10, is to performs Sunday afternoon at the Stars On Ice show with four-time world champion and U.S. Olympic gold medalist Scott Hamilton.

"It's pretty cool," said Josh, who has been skating for four years and competes with the Springbank Figure Skating Club.

"He's a pretty big celebrity, and it's a real honour. I'm really excited, and I'm not really nervous."

Hamilton won a gold medal in the 1984 Games.

The 4 p.m. April 29 show at the Saddledome is a stop on Hamilton's last Stars On Ice tour, 15 years after he created the international event.

Hamilton will perform to James Brown's I Got You, then Josh, representing Hamilton as a boy, will come onto the ice and skate to Ray Charles' A Song for You.

Josh will also join Hamilton on the ice to watch other performers.

The young figure skater is hoping he'll pick up a few moves from the veteran.

"I might learn how to do some of the things that I've never really done," Josh said.
